Contributions Challenge 1:

     The first said story:

There is a poor family formed by four members: two parents and two boys. They live in a hut made of clay and straw since when they were put out from a bread factory where they lived for a while.

Mom makes great efforts to educate the two children, going through a daily distance of tens of kilometers to put them into the kindergarten. After being put out from the previous home the man built a hut, but was pillaged by thieves. Not far away from the factory place, they found a "home" where they live now. No water, no electricity, they only have a stove to cook, mother only knows what, because family income is childcare values of 160 Lei (36 Euro), only.

The "house" is actually a mound of earth and straw, three planks and cardboard lieu roofing living in this poor family. You can say that God has turned its face from them, that the society has disowned him, refusing to know them. But this family was not entirely forgotten: sometimes aided by several Christian families ...

The four family members must survive with the things they receive. And their dream is to have a decent home and to be able to raise their children in better conditions.

                                                                                              Written by Radu Hrihoreanu

         The second said story:

Every child should have the right to a happy life. A happy life means a family, a family to take care of you, cherish you, to give you a home, the right to an education. The family must give you a good education to those around you, to know how to behave.

Most beautiful people in your life are the ones who accept you with everything. Both qualities and defects are the coordinates of the man next to you and the man you see every day in the mirror. Those who accept only the beauty, intelligence and your kindness but, most often, fleeing the parts of your negative people that need you to run. But to run fast and never look back.

You're beautiful! With good and bad. And those who want to be part of your life should understand this! But above all, the first person should understand all these things is you!

A family demonstrates to all that poverty can be defeated. They work hard and live in harvesting medicinal plants. With the little income the parents make they send their girls to school.

All stand in a house without electricity, some covered with plastic sheets when it was raining. Parents have learned that girls should know the book (learn) and did everything they could to help her.

The mother is 39 years old and taught herself to read and write only at 25 years old. She wanted her three daughters to have another life and told them that the school will only be helpful.

The mother: "We do not expect the holidays, for us it's very hard on holiday time."

Parents, helped by the three children, live in picking herbs they sell to various distributors. With a little tight, they are trying to make a home for 15 years but barely manage to put an amount, however small, aside.

Every child has the right to a normal life

At the level of 2008, 17.0% of Europeans (EU 27) were at risk of poverty.

In this hierarchy, Romania occupies penultimate place, with a poverty rate of 23.0%, followed by Latvia, 26.0%.

It happens that some have a normal childhood. How should I have a child and can have all the experiences of a normal and peaceful childhoods?

Research on poverty in Romania have proposed various terms: absolute poverty, relative poverty, severe poverty, abysmal, to determine which were developed various poverty thresholds. Poverty was determined either on the basis of income or expenditure in the total consumption of households, by applying various equivalence scales. Poverty thus assessed is lack or insufficiency of income/consumption.

The fall in extreme poverty involves passing through a series of intermediate situations between insufficiency of income and general lack of opportunity and permanent. The journey from poverty to standard extreme poverty implies a gradual loss of household assets and resources from job and housing, to social networks that could support life.

Standard rates of poverty in the areas studied, and at the national level:

Initiatives and European and national actions that marked the year 2010 contributed to increasing the involvement of all actors in the system, including citizens, what leaded to finding new solutions for the initiation and development of concrete and effective measures to combat poverty.

Everybody should have the same rights, even if they are with a very good material status or not. Your best bet would be to not keep in mind the material condition, but about people what mind express: good or less good they have. Some even they are poor are willing to work out of this standard and improve the revenue that they may have a decent living. A life without thoughts of poverty should have all the families of the world.

We all should be treated equally and not to be evil and discriminate between people.

To be able to fix this problem measures may be taken by all the powers of the country and even from people. We must treat them with respect and help us together to be everything good and calm. There are many problems in the world, but can be solved.

                                                                                                                     Written by Andrei Motoroiu

Here is a poetry about the happiness:

             Happiness

"Having a book on my shelf

It defines my happiness

I just want a lovely place

Somewhere beside a forest

Spending time with my family

Singing an old melody

Together near the fireplace

That is really happiness."

Feedback from: Lyceum de Grundel

We really like your learning circle page, the drawing is very cool and looks great. The story was very nicely written and really interesting. We liked the painting a lot, because it was different from ours. You’ve been very motivated and we are happy to see that. We noticed that you are really taking this program seriously. I enjoyed reading your introduction. Your PowerPoint was even better! The information was quite a lot, but very good. We are really impressed by your English writing. We thought that you were required to wear a uniform, but you weren’t.

The children rights in Romania are very similar to ours, but I think if we compared Romania to the Netherlands that in some places where we live, we live in better conditions than some of the Romanians.

Feedback from: Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls

Hi there! We just want to say that we really like your stories and the efforts that you put into all of your challenges. Your stories were very informative and we liked your varied use of language.  Your pictures were well laid out and we found that we all agreed how simplicity can really pull through in the long run. We however found it hard to understand and grasp your poetry, but a great final product altogether. Looking at your statistics, we can really see how different our countries are and how very diverse we are.

South Africa is a great place but Romania leaves us intrigued. We enjoyed looking at our contrasting and similar ideas and we look forward to working with you again and hearing more of your fantastic ideas.

Contributions Challenge 2:

What we mean by a good education and by usable spending free time:

A good education involves understanding the uniqueness of each child. It also involves more attention, more affection, communication and especially good example. Children will not be what they want and even what parents teach them, but most often become what their parents are.

Each student 's free time should be used wisely. We have to do different activities which put us in mind of operation. The best activities would be chess, various computer applications, sports activities .

                                                       David Anghel

In our opinion, a good education is what we receive from our parents who teach us almost everything in life and from our teachers who have an important role in our education because they teach us how to act in a society. In our leisure time we should focus on doing some sport or doing activities which help us develop our skills and help us work with other persons. We also should read something or watch a documentary on tv.

                                           Flavius Susu

Good education helps small children to become good, honest, conscientious adults. Without a good education, people would become chaotic, bad, nasty and do the bad things that affect the environment and people near.

Free time is very precious for everyone. It should be used carefully and beneficial. Leisure must be pleasant and relaxing. In leisure time is right to do what we like, what relaxes us and makes us feel good.

                                                           Gabriela Aldea

In my opinion, a good education means knowing how to behave well in the society and having a good amount of general knowledge. In our free time we should do the things that we enjoy the most, but also improving our social, physical and mental skills because by improving these we will succeed in being a functional person in the society.

                                                      Iulian Baian

In your free time it is good to do useful things to help you to develop your personality and knowledge, but also things that are relaxing and make you to forget the stress from school or work. In the leisure time you can read or travel and this way you can find out useful things and you can relax at the same time. Therefore, you can learn having fun!
